Christmas Music...

You people out there in Blogger land are probably sick of hearing Christmas songs by now. I'm not. I just can't get enough of it. My favorite Christmas carols are O Holy Night, Silent Night, Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and the Twelve Days of Christmas. Not necessarily in that order. I could listen to it all year round and have been found doing so. I wonder what people would if they could hear me listening to Christmas music in July?

O HOLY NIGHT

is my favorite carol,
but i'm not sure i'd enjoy
it quite as much in july as december

/t.

Little Lamb said...

I enjoy it anytime. Try listening to it sometime in July and see how you like it.

Anonymous said...

i might
do that, then

i have 10 different versions of o holy night on my computer... my current favorite is a korean opera company singing it in korean(!)

/t.

Little Lamb said...

Oh wow! It must really be your favorite!

Anonymous said...

the song
itself, you mean

yes, it's a favorite

the korean rendition is my current favorite of the several i have here

i can send you a copy if you wish

/t.

Little Lamb said...

what other copies do you have?

leann rimes 581k vbr
enya 128k
celtic woman 192k
ancora 320k
mariah carey 128k
josh groban 256k
jorean opera 192k
billy gillman 192k
celine dion 192k

/t.

Anonymous said...

sorry,

korean opera

/t.

Little Lamb said...

Who sounds the best?

Anonymous said...

192k+
is good
on computer speakers

320k constant bit rate is effectively cd quality

higher variable bit rates are good, too

less than 192k is pretty crunchy...

/t.

Anonymous said...

leann rimes
is pretty nice

josh groban, korean opera

/t.

Little Lamb said...

You're giving me size and not answering the quiestion.

Little Lamb said...

How many verses do they sing?

Anonymous said...

all
that
they know,
little lamb

/t.

Little Lamb said...

What if they don't know the whole song?

Anonymous said...

then they
only sing what
they can remember

/t.

Little Lamb said...

So in other words, you don't know.

Anonymous said...

i don't know

i don't care

i listen to it, little lamb, i don't count the verses or query the singers as to their knowledge of their material

/t.

Little Lamb said...

Good point, /t. I don't either.

Anonymous said...

i think
you might
like leann rimes
or celine dion --
they both have amazing, powerful voices that do justice to the fall on your knees parts...

josh groban is good

/t.

Little Lamb said...

If you don't mind you can send the leann rimes or the celine dion one.

Anonymous said...

“Chipmunks Roasting Over an Open Fire" by Bob Rivers is my favorite. If I heard anyone singing X-mas music in July I would have to pummel them. In fact one more round of Yoko Ono singing Happy Christmas (The War is Over) and I swear I am going to strangle someone with tinsel. Happy Christmas, LL…

Little Lamb said...

Merry Christmas to you, phos kid.

Little Lamb said...

Waiting, I think it's here.

Little Lamb said...

It's not here yet.

Little Lamb said...

It's here. It doesn't sound like she's singing it in English.

Anonymous said...

it might
be gaelic...

or martian...

or poem by nari?!?

she has a very nice voice in any language, don't you think so?

/t.

Little Lamb said...

Martian? Poems by Nari? Who's Nari anyway?

You know I want you to take me to Mars.

It is beautiful.

Anonymous said...

sure...

maybe you could
show me around your
old neighbourhood there...

Poem by Nari is ted warnell and little lamb. Poem by Nari is people from around the world making art & noise on the internet and in the blogs. Poem by Nari is ted warnell and little lamb and bird and crash and the pug and mayden and k9 and phos and fini and flic and kris and everyone who knowingly or unwittingly (jeremy wexler) gets caught up in this web of creative nonsense -- and then some...

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh yeah

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

This Christmastide

Green and silver, red and gold
And a story born of old.
Truth and love and hope abide
This Christmastide.

Holly, ivy, misletoe
And the gently falling snow.
Truth and love and hope abide,
This Christmastide.

From a simple ox's stall
Came the greatest gift of all.
Truth and love and hope abide
This Christmastide.

Children sing of peace and joy
At the birth of one small boy.
Truth and love and hope abide,
This Christmastide.

Let the bells ring loud and clear,
Ring out now for all to hear.
Truth and love and hope abide,
This Christmastide.
Trumpets sound and voices raise
In an endless stream of praise,
Truth and love and hope abide,
This Christmastide.

Green and silver, red and gold
And a story born of old,
Peace and love and hope abide,
This Christmastide.

Words by Jane McCulloch
song by the American Boychoir

the words are lovely - the tune is beautiful - makes me cry every time i hear it.

Little Lamb said...

Lamby, I'm starting to worry about your sanity.

I'm kidding, of course.

I've been worrying about that for quite some time.

Anonymous said...

my lamb about sanity

we have all we need here -- between us, just about enough for an almost rational being...

oh look, duckies ; ; ;

/t.

Little Lamb said...

/t. how can I show you where I was born and grew up if we go to mars?

Pug, with /t. hanging around here I can see why you'd wonder about my sanity. I sometimes wonder about him.

Merry Christmas, Lambycakes.

Just so you know, I'm working on new Carols. It's been slow going, though. So far all I have is:

"Come 'round virgins, tender and mild"
"Over Pug's place, party so wild"

If you have anything to add, perhaps I can make this one a collaboration.

Little Lamb said...

boneman, you seem to be very nice to, I hope you have a merry Christmas.

Pug, that sounds interesting. If I think of anything to add, I'll let you know. And sometimes you can be a slacker, but then again, so can I.

oh pug, by the way, Merry Christmas!
