I do protect marriage, by avoiding adding to the divorce rate (my ex-fiancee would have guaranteed one) ;)

There are lots of gay-headed households that successfully raise very happy adopted children.

I get so tired of the Religious Right promoting hate and fear.

Jesus Christ had a whole lot more detrimental things to say about the Religious Right of the time (that being the Pharisees). They were rigid, rich, and politically connected with the ruling authorities of that time. In fact, it was the Religious Right of that era who demanded that Jesus be put to death.

Two thousand years later, nothing has changed. The Religious Right is still rich, rigid, and in bed with the political authorities.

Jesus only had ONE commandment of anyone who would call him "Lord". He said "Love God with all your heart and mind, and love your neighbors as youself."

I don't see a lot of love in this video, nor do I see a lot of love in Proposition 8. What I do see is a heavily-funded campaign of fear and hate aimed at marginalizing/demonizing an unpopular and misunderstood minority.

well, i can see that 2nd graders might be too young for adult issues.
perhaps all books should be banned that deal with any kind marriage since marriage is an adult issue ..
you know, i'm thinking especially about this story where a young teen kisses an amphibian to get a man ..
ech..
in the meantime, however, i'm not feeling threatened whatsoever

Little Lamb said...

Indigo,

The Bible speaks against that type of lifestyle. It's not promoting hate and fear, it's proclaiming the truth.

The reason they wanted Jesus put to death is because he spoke against their sins.

/t.

The bigger the lie the more people believe it.

Foam,

I think it should be kept out of school too.

I am still thinking (as good as I can ;-)
Still, I am pondering around marriage as the religious institution it is, don't think children shall be indoctrinated with this or that belief-system or social institution that creates alienation between folks from diverted religions.

Protect what?
According to witch religion?

Protect the children from diversity between people and their "ideas"

human love

(funny ... "witch religion" was meant to mean which religion ... ha ha ha )

Little Lamb said...

Halloween speak

Indigo said...

that's right... hee hee... I'm the one who practices the witch religion, and gay marriage is just fine by Wiccan theology. Love is stronger than hate, courage is stronger than fear.

FWIW, most of the folks in my Wicca circle do revere Jesus as one of the finest examples of humanity and a powerful practitioner of good and positive magic.

Little Lamb said...

Gays don't like it when you speak against their lifestyle. It's not natural. The Bible calls what we call gay sodomites. Sodomite is in the Bible. Biblically speaking you and Doug are Sodomites.

1st Kings 14:24, 15:12, 22:46 & 2nd Kings 23:7. Yes it is the Old Testament. Paul also speaks against that lifestyle in his epistles. He was directed by God to do so.

Jesus didn't do any magic. Since He is God He can do what He wants.

Indigo said...

I'm from York, PA. I've never been to Sodom.

Little Lamb said...

Silly! I've never been to Sodom either. I was born in Chicago and raised in New York.

Lamby,

Before I address the primary topic, please allow me to mention a much more troubling issue: the couple's interior decorating skills (or actually, the lack thereof).

You see, back when the Bible was compiled, interior decoration was not nearly as important as it is today. People were in general not well off, and also had limited access (if any) to mail order catalogs. They simply used whatever was locally available (rocks, wildlife, etc.).

So the concept and value of interior design really didn't enter the public conscience until (arguably) the advent of the Sears catalog in the late 1800's.

Unfortunately interior design developed slowly, well into the 1990's. People were offered themes that were previously unimaginable, but the art form continued to stumble in a primitive fashion. So even though a family living in, say, Nebraska, could adopt a Nantucket theme (I'll spare you the limericks that readily come to mind with this example), it was still "kitschy" at best.

Then in the 1990's something truly remarkable happened: gay men started to make their existence known. And say what you will: they are fabulous decorators! And though I personally don't embrace their lifestyle, I suspect that some if not all of our fellow bloggers secretly do.

Plus gay folks are biologically incapable of breeding* (* unless they choose to cross the proverbial "picket line"): an admirable trait that ALL humans should possess, as it would make the world a much better place.

In fact, I think the gay lifestyle should be not only encouraged, but mandated (yes, I realize that I just used a word comprised of "man" and "date" ... grow up, people!) by law and taught during sex education classes in kindergarten* (* since horomones in cow's milk will soon allow people to breed at age 6).

So in summary, here would be some of the benefits of a purely homosexual world (except for you and me, of course):

- less people
- better interior decorating
- no plaid couches or fake Mallards
- no education system related tax hikes
- no heterosexual "smut" magazines
- no heterosexual Internet porn
- no more "unattractive, doughy Republican couples" (as depicted in the video)
- no more folks pretending to be straight
- only Lamb/Pug offspring to populate the planet from here on out

Hope this helped in some small way.

Little Lamb said...

But Pug you have so many females at your disposal.

puerileuwaite said...

Lamby, good point. So I'd like to add a statute that females who find themselves attracted to me, would be exempted from this proposal under grounds of insanity.

Little Lamb said...

That's why we need to protect marriage.

puerileuwaite said...

I'd like to change the verbiage slightly: "We need to protect me from marriage."

There. I think the lawyers will go for that.

of course, you do realize that we live in a secular republic and not a theocraticic oligarchy, right? I think freedom of religion should include the right to have someone else's religious values not crammed down my throat. Wicca says homosexuality is okay. christianity says it isn't. Why should I be made to feel that my religious convistions are less valid than Sarah Palin's?

Little Lamb said...

Ruela, I want a divorce!

Indigo, Gays don't like to hear that their lifestyle is offensive to some people. It's illegal to preach against gays in Massachusetts. That's taking someone's free speech away. Let gays live the way they want without shoving it down my throat. If your boyfriend is dying and he wants you to be there, you should be, no questions asked. That should not be wrong. Not everyone will accept your lifestyle. Do what you do in private. You don't have to advertise it. Not the way its being advertised and fought for as it is today.

Indigo said...

I agree with you that in the pulpit, preachers should be able to say whatever they want. I'm a big fan of the Constitution, even though our current president is not.

You keep forgetting that homosexuality is sinful *in your religion*. Christianity is *not* the only religion out there. 29% of Americans practice something else. There are about 6 billion people on Earth and 4.9 billion practice something else.

When a candidate for office says she wants to enact punitive laws against people like Doug and I because of her "deeply held religious beliefs", that is a betrayal of the Founding Fathers' intention of having a secular republic.

As a Wiccan, I'd like to have the legal right to marry because my religion says it's permissable to do so. Sarah Palin wants to forever remove that possibility because her religion forbids it.

That conflict, in a nutshell, is why it is so important that public officials leave their religious biases at the car door when they step into their offices.

I think that same-sex couples should have a purely secular set of civil rights that are eqquivalent to what straight married couples get because: a.) it's fair. 2.) we pay the same taxes as straights and thus should have the same rights as straights. 3.) Religion has no place in government.

Little Lamb said...

From the pulpit even then, you can't preach about it. One doesn't want to offend the gays.

My current president is all for the constitution. He also agrees that marriage is between one man and one woman.

She never said anything against homosexuality except to "pray away the gay." That means God can change you if you want that change. I do support that.

Indigo said...

I do agree that God can change people for the better. I also agree with you that religious freedom is paramount to our nation. The restriction on free speech that you cite is bad. If a Christian preacher wants to say how I live my life is wrong, well, that's fine. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Any law that forbids that preacher from speaking his mind is wrong.

Hey! We just agreed on something! :)

I guess miracles do happen, hee hee!

Little Lamb said...

It's a start.

boneman said...

well, good luck with that.
Funny that they start with one thing
same gender marriage
and then roll into something entirely different
school curriculum

When I see a switch like that, the first thing that comes to mind is, why.

Obviously heterosexual people are in charge of what people can do or what they can't do. The couples' arguement is weak from the start, too. To assume what the future brings with any given circumstances isn't any truer than if they came up with the opposite thought.
Homosexuality talk leads to homosexual practice. Hardly. From what I have heard, that a person is intimate with another of the same gender, and happy about it? Then hetero activity shoved down his or her throat everyday, every hour (just glance at the TV for an hour and you will see no less than four sexually oriented advertisements) is as offensive.
So, stating the offense is a terrible arguement.
That it's in the bible doesn't make it God's truth.
Masturbation is as terrible an 'offense' as homosexuality, punishable by dragging the offender into the street and publically stoning him to death
( straight from the bible )
but, let me ask you this....
who's going to be the last person throwing stones?
Isn't that what Jesus said, too?
Is it the business of man to judge?
or someone else?

Now...making it legal?
Well, take the image out of your mind, first.
That purile thought that has been being shoved down all our throats...the image of same sex marriage.
Oh, for crying out loud!
The very description drips in sex.
They don't say opposite gender sex, do they?

Think about who gets to say if you can marry someone of the same gender, or opposite color (Indiana was one of the last. Go figure) or if a red head is allowed to marry a blonde, or any arbitrary issue...can Christians marry Atheists? (bible:no, common sense:yes) Can a Jew marry a Muslim?

I realize you have your own ideas about things, and probably the two things we can count on is, you'll never marry a sheep.
We know that.
And, we also know that you'll never marry a girl.
Cool.

Of course, the whole arguement of not letting homosexually oriented people marry each other because it's not natural?
Horsefeathers.
Several animals, with no knowledge of gay rights or propaganda, actually live homosexually.
Obviously they propagate with females, but, wolves generally hunt in male packs. Dominant dog humps the others. Regularly.
And, not as nice as you'de want to think.

Mankind is not supposed to inflict sexuality towards animals.
Don't lie with the animals, pain of death.
And yet, there are African villages where the children perform cunninglingus (spelled right? Go down on the cow. Stimulate the caow orally.
To get the cow to produce milk. Which it does.

(wouldn't you? I mean...geez. It's hard saying whether the cows are excited or scared...)

Speaking of scared, though...what do you think of my halloween avatar?

ooooooo scarey.

Little Lamb said...

good point, Boneman.

Scary avatar.

I agree with Puggles, the biggest sin being committed here is that tacky decorating. Lol, and Boney has made some very enlightening and valid points. :)

Now to be more serious I think adult issues whether they be heterosexual or homosexual should not be taught to children in the curriculum from kindergarten to second grade, they are far too young to understand these concepts and it would be confusing for them.

Like it or not there are homosexual people in this world and nothing will change that. They are human too and are capable of having a loving, sharing relationship with a person of the same sex.
We are all Gods children so who are we to judge. :)

And Puggles I think one very lucky girl will get you down the aisle one of these days. ♥

Little Lamb said...

We all think differently on this issue.

I think Puggles is secretly married and happy, too.

Little Lamb said...

Oh no! Pug found out what I said! How can I ever make it up to you?

To be honest, I think you could be married and happy. There would be nothing wrong with that.
