I recieved this in an email...

Proud To Be White
Someone finally said it.

How many are actually paying attention to this?
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans,
Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Native Americans, etc.

And then there are just Americans.

You pass me on the street and sneer in mydirection.
You Call me "White boy," "Cracker," "Honkey,"
"Whitey," "Caveman" .. and that's OK.

But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head, Sand-nigger,
camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink ... you call me a racist

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you,
so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King
Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You
have Yom Hashoah You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi You have the NAACP.
You have BET.

If we had WET (White Entertainment Television). we'd be racists.

If we had a White Pride Day .. you would call us racists.

If we had any organization for only whites to "advance" OUR lives ..
we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of
Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that?

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships
.... you know we'd be racists. There are over 60 openly proclaimed
Black Colleges in the US , yet if there were "White colleges" .
THAT would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching
for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights,

you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're
not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride .

you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer
shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running
from the law and posing a threat to society . you call him a racist.

I am proud.

But, you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists?

There is nothing improper about this e-mail.

Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on.

start counting the number of whites on tv compared to other races and backgrounds. most channels are the "white"channel.

i have never, ever been called a cracker or honkey or any other "racist" name. and even if i was, those names don't sting so much - because though they might be used against me, they are not used by a group who has dominance in our society - thus their potency is lessened considerably.

plain and simple, the white race as a whole is dominant - has the most power and the most money and the higher positions. though i am not a high-ranking member of that race - as a woman, i do not hold as much power in society as a white man.

the history books that our kids read already focus on "white" history. so essentially, every month is "white history month." but in february we focus on african americans in US history, and in march, if anyone remembers, we focus on women in us istory. why? because the dominant, white race thinks there's only enough "black" history to fill up a month, and only enough "women's' history to fill up a month. all the rest is for white history.

whites don't need a special club we already have plenty of em and they have the most power too- congress and the us senate are "white clubs" how many nonwhites do you see in those chambers?

black colleges? think back to your history - oh, that's right, most of what we know is white history, so we either were'nt told this part, or it was glossed over so we didn't pay attention - there are black colleges because once upoon a time, all colleges were white - and wouldn't accept blacks.

and when white colleges finally started accepting blacks, the schools treated the blacks like crap. all the more reason for black colleges.

there are still pivate golf courses in this country that won't admit blacks or latinos, or women either.

so would having a "black" golf course then be racist? don't think so.

Lamb, you aren't PC.
Did you know that whites are a minority when put into comparison with the total world population?
BTW, I find Asian girls very sexy.

Little Lamb said...

Pug,
No, I didn't. I received it in an email.

All you want to do is eat my lambs.

Bird,
You bring up a valid point about the white society. Also blacks had to fight their way to get where they are today. Thanks for helping me see this.

/t. you're proud to be whoever you happen to be at the moment.

Carmen,
yes, lakes are romantic.

Lex,
I'm never PC. I didn't know whites were a minority to the rest of the world. We also don't learn about the world about the way the rest of the world learns about us.

To all,
I think we all should be proud of who we are and our perspective race.

Well, I was about to write a comment similar to birds, but what more is there to say. There is one tern who took the correct turn during studies of America's progress.

During my lifetime women and children were considered chattel. For those who may not know, that means they were merely the property, yes, property, of the dominant white male.

Dr. Robert Terry wrote a very enlightening book entitled The White Male Club expounding on the subject.

Little lamb, thanks for posting this. We all need to think about the ramifications of such thoughts.

Lamb, obviously not just whites can be racist. Everybody is capable of being a racist, whether they want to define it as an impossibility or not. Racism is not limited to only those in power, as blacks or white liberals try to define it.

It's just that non-whites can get away with being racist because liberal whites have an insultingly paternalistic and condescending attitude towards them. They treat them as if they didn't know better, or as if it was incapable for them to be racist. They can't be held accountable, that sort of claptrap.

I know as many black racists as white racists, possibily even more. And I call a spade a spade.

What I love is when someone like Condi Rice or Colin Powell or Clarence Thomas rises to power. Instead of blacks celebrating the accomplishment, they call them Uncle Toms because they don't fit the accepted stereotype that blacks and liberal whites provide for them and demand that they follow.

Everybody is talking about Barak Hussein Obama these days because he's a Democratic black. If Condi Rice ran for president no one would pay attention, even though she is BOTH a woman and black. Why? Because she doesn't fit the stereotype of a black person, as defined by other black people. So she's merely an Uncle Tom, a pawn in the white power structure. What an insult to her!

I find the paternalistic and condescending attitude of liberal whites, as well as the stereotypes blacks define for their own race, to be the most racist of all because, below the surface, it shows how they really feel about themselves and others.

Black Americans represent just 13% of the US population. (12.9%according to the CIA World Fact book
https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html)

It does seem like that 13% is pretty well covered on TV, and in Radio, and well over 13% in major sports.
One major university out of 6 within an hour of my home is an all black college. My city is about 45% black...so racial issues are different for me- I'm often in the minority in my city.

Is the 13% represented well in business ownership, and in law making positions? I'd have to research that better.
Colin Powell and Condi Rice are/were pretty high up there, but how many governors and mayors are black? I don't know.

THe wealthiest woman in the US is Oprah. That is pretty amazing.

Successful black Americans will tell you over and over again that ANYONE can be successful in this country- they just have to apply themselves. This is true for all of us.

I'm not saying that racisim does not exist, it does. And it goes both ways. I wish we could look at each other as Humans- and not as colors.

I'm a "humanist" :)

As far as pwer goes...
I am a mother- and a teacher, and this gives me far greater power than my husband, or any of his friends will ever have.
The old phrase "the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world" I believe, is true.
It's my values, my ideals, and my beliefs that will be carried into the future.
I think all women have tremendous power- and it can't be printed out on pie charts or spelled out in dollar signs. Our power exists on another level- and in the lives of our children.
This is not to say that fathers don't also have an important influence on their kids- they do...but time and time again- when I hear a man give a speech- he often thanks his mom, or his wife for enabling him to become the success he is.
Fathers are owed a debt of gratitude too...but we don't often hear it.

This is a very provocative post, Lamby.

But let me lay a little truth down (Bird touched upon it.) The reason we don’t need a white history month is because we are submerged & surrounded by white history, white media, white propaganda, white culture, white society, white laws, white wars, white-washing of every kind.

The greatest force of evil on the planet today is the white man. He has bombed more children in the name of God than people he so hypocritically points to as religious fanatics. The white man set fire to Hiroshima, Nagasaki, burned babies with napalm, and hides his crimes behind an a-moral socially repugnant media that makes a star of a farm-animal like Anna Nicole Smith, then takes delight in the ratings her death brings.

In the history books they call what the Israelis did to the Arabs a “pre-emptive strike,” but they called Pearl Harbor a “sneak attack.” They bombed Dresden with 1000 bombers. They killed Indians in their sleep. They lie to the world, lie to themselves, and lie in their own sin. They feed upon blood.

Love,

(I've been trying comment for a bit now - and blogger keeps messin' with me - I hope this one will take.)

Touching on the issue of representation - yes, Colin Powell was pretty high up there, as is Condi Rice. But the question is - how many African-Americans hold such high offices - and how long before the next time an African-American holds such high office?

This applies to other racial minorities and women. When people of color and women are as common place in holding important high offices as white men -then we have a respective balance.

Barack Obama is, if I remember correctly, the third black senator in our country's history. (Of course, there are some who question his "blackness" both in terms of blood and culture. But that's a whole 'nother discussion.

I gently remind - there may be a concentration of black colleges in a particular area, but as a whole, there are not that many.

I'm not so sure, if you did an actual accounting of racial representation on tv, if it would really hold true that nonwhites are well-represented. i will have to hunt it up, but i have seen some articles and demographics that speak to that issue. not just in terms of what you see on tv, but behind the scenes as well - writers, producers, directors, etc.

LL - I meant to say as well the other day that you are a gracious and diplomatic host. Many thanks.

whatever happened to merit?

that`s why i like environments like the nfl.

black guys run faster than white guys.(some.)

and if blacks become more prevalent in the upper levels of power how is culture going to be changed.......?

especially since a fair majority have risen due to entitlement, not merit.

now i know that statement will create um, controversy.

needs to be said though.

and as you can see from my photo that i`m a gleaming white guy and english too, and so i`m a little nervous about how other cultures are going to be running a system we built.

we built.

look around.

where else on the planet did high technology and urban democracy emerge.

on this planet every other society has either adopted our technology and culture, with varying degrees of success, or stayed agrarian.

despite what jared diamond has to say.

it`s not about i.q. or intellect either, it`s about adaptation.

I agree. We should be judged on what we do, not what we look like. We are all human beings, we are human beings before antthing else.
