Hood Ornaments...

Hood ornament # 1.

They look all like hood ornaments. (except for the one who is not cooperating)

It was raining when I took these pictures. They were drying their wings.

A bunch of us were canoeing down Sugar Creek one day after a rain storm, and as we came around a bend in the creek, Betz and I saw these magnificent Eagles sitting on the tops of a couple of trees, their wings spread way out..as if they were flying!
It was so cool!
Then Steve, God love a naturalist, said..."No. Those are vultures,"

but, honestly, whenever I think back on it, I remember them being eagles.

But, even more amazing is...and the book is full of this very thing, I just finished reading Tim Allen's "I'm Not Really Here" and most of the book he's searching for his hood ornament!
HA!
Happy President's Day to you, mam.

You can be MY hood ornament anytime, Lambycakes. I mean the Tawney Kitaen / Whitesnake / "Here I Go Again" music video kind, too. NOT the kind where I accidently ran you over and you wound up there.

Little Lamb said...

Boney, I think it would be so neat to get pictures of eagles, but I don't believe I've seen one.

Happy President's Day to you, too!

Puggy Poo! How have you been? It's been a long time. Nice to see you again! I'll have to think of a pose that you'll like to be your ornament.

The Phosgene Kid said...

I've seen 'em after they got sucked up into turboprop, not so noble after that...

Little Lamb said...

Leave it to Phos to come up with something like that.

darkfoam said...

i think they would eat lamb, pugs too for that matter. they'd probably pick at bones, maybe a phos or two. but i don't think they drink beer .. whew!

boneman said...

geez, Phos...those turbo props fly low enough to pick up a lamb into their intakes?
Maybe they should fly just a lil higher...

Lil Lamb, I saw eagle's nests when I was down there with Jeanie.
Here's the trick.
Unless you have an excellent camera? Don't bother thinking about getting a picture.
Look way high into the skies for a gliding bird....WAY WAY WAY up there.
It doesn't flap so much, but sometimes...but the key is, they are 700-1200 feet in the air.
They follow waterways like rivers and streams. And...if you see one at a particlar time of day? It'll probably be there most days in the same place at the same time.
We have one that follows Eagle Creek right around church time and I've seen him so many times. Tried to take pictures of that great bird, but, just a silly spot on my camera.
HA!
I'de have better luck taking a picture of a Lamb being a hood ornament than that bird....

d=))

You are great sweet lamb, such a deep observer of nature, really interesting, I have been in the middle of a river the hole weekend and become one for 2 days.
Take care!

Little Lamb said...

Foamy, I think they even drink beer, but deny such a thing.

Boney, so it's possible I've seen one or two in the air gliding.

Marianna, I hope you enjoyed yourself.

LL,

i've never understood
the strange custom of keeping
your hood ornaments on treetops -- our hoods keep their ornaments on chains, usually around the neck, and call it 'bling'

boneman said...

Are you OK?

Little Lamb said...

/t. Very true. But you have to keep the vultures someplace.

Boney, I'm fine.

Anonymous said...

yes, LL

that's what
elected office is for

/t.

Little Lamb said...

Wow! How true that is!

boneman said...

so...those could be politicians up there drying their wings?

Little Lamb said...

No, they're to tiny to be politicians. I bet that's the first time you heard about vultures being tiny, eh?

boneman said...

Saw some of those when I was visiting, actually.
They did seem smaller, but, you're right about the other thing.
They walk funny.

Little Lamb said...

Vultures are good to have around. They clean up the environment.

That was good, /t. I enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing.

Gosh you have a lot of vultures living in your area, I have never seen so many ... are you sure you're not the attraction? :(
I sure hope not, better take care.

I think you are a brilliant photographer, your photographs are always so good.
We had a really hot day yesterday and last night was the second highest temperature recorded, it was so nice to sit outside after the sun had set.
The half moon looked so beautiful in the deepening blue of the sky and as some clouds drifted in front of it you could just imagine the moon resting in the clouds.
I rushed and got my camera, such a great photo opportunity ... but the photos were all 'grainy' and out of focus ... so sad, as they could have been lovely. xo ♡

Little Lamb said...

I don't think I am, as far as I know. I guess the reason they picked my neighborhood is because of little critters that they can eat and clean up the area. What the heck, they work for free.

Sometimes when you get blurry pictures like that, maybe you're trying to take them too fast. I have a camera that takes that out. I don't remember what its called.

dianne said...

Thanks Lamby dear, I think my photos were blurry and grainy because I had it on the wrong :( setting for night photos, also I do sometimes move the camera ... I wish mine had that feature to correct any movement, maybe I should just invest in a tripod but then that's more stuff to drag around. xoxo ♡
