This is really beautiful LL and /t... and the zoo pictures are adorable. Dan is very talented with that camera~ Great expressions and captions with those photos :)
LL- are you ok? I know some terrible storms came near you...I hope you and your family are safe. -Cora
the eagle is magnificent, of course - and the backdrop of icy, snowy mountains makes this arctic tern feel at home.
i'm especially impressed with the lettering - the white letters fading out leaving me to thnk of two of words that fit here I think:
aria - a solo song - a meloday, orattio (sp?) - operatic of course - but all birds no matter their feathers sing exquisite and elaborate melodies - terns and eagles are not exception.
and
eyrie - a bird's lofty fortress, home and nest.
so this all works together quite nicely for this american bird.
lots of bird pecks to you both (the gentle kind - :> :> :> cubed to infinity
(now i'd best get on switching to beta - cause blogger wont let me post until i do - so i can link this post to my blog as promised. i'll try to make it a priority. but i am worried that blogger will lose my stuff when i make the switch.)
little lamb little lamb...Dan went berserk...he put a question for you on my blog...I have taken the liberty to answer that question my way...but the question surely is for you...
i wrote an excellent comment in protest of the eagle bashing, but since i switched to that damn beta - well - now i can't comment as bird and the comment was lost. i must start anew. that wretched commenting box wouldn't accept my google address 'cause it's not activated yet - clearly all beta's fault - I HATE IT WHEN TECHNOLOGY CHANGES! i knew i should skip the whole thing and abandon this blogging thing! i will have a temper tantrum! i will!i will!i will!
i am in a bloody mood. but it is not all beta blogger's fault. there is the matter of that outrageous bird bashing!
all bird bashing of any kind must cease immediately before i descend upon you in full fighting tern wrath - bringing along with me some screaming eagles (oh, you'll be sorry indeed!).
eagles are not dumb, nor are they capitalists. they are glorious, beautiful birds, loyal to their mates, fiercely protective of their offspring, and good providers for the family - cunning and swift.
so no more bashing - or i shall gouge yer eyes out.you won't even be able to weep - not a trace of eye or tear duct shall i leave behind. you'll be left to wonder through blogoshpere, blinded and bleeding, cursing and rueing the day you set yourself up against eagles and the tern!
and if that doesn't do the trick, i will call in the dog - who has promised to thrash those needing thrashing if ever i should call!

i agree, little lamb -- if we're going to live terrorized, then they won
We used to watch wintering eagles along the Mississippi. Eagles pretty much stick to fish food-wise, but will eat carrion. We scared one off roadkill once.
Is that picture "to scale"? Also, why does it have to be a mountain in the background? Are lakes less patriotic?
(At least the mountain isn't shaded purple. That would be a bit much. What's that? Gotta go. Homeland Security is at the door ... apparently they want to "discuss" this comment ... )
Whose side are the lakes on? Finland's or America's? I don't want a wishy-washy answer. Either the lakes are patriotic to America or they're not (in which case they are un-American and need to be drained).

Thank you, Cora. I'm fine. In my arear at work we had a tornado warning at 12:30, right after lunch until 12:45. We're all fine. Thank youl
Lamb, very nice post indeed. So colorful and patriotic and stuff.
I just now asked you a question on Mona's blog.
Cora, thanks so much for your very kind words!
My answer is here. :)
Very patriotic. As Cora said, hope the storms gave you a pass.
Thank you, kid. Yes, they did. All I had was a warning and nothing else. I can live with that.
Click for answer and for next question. :)
Great picture & I liked the photos below also.
Thanks. :)
Thanks for giving us the bird.

None of my stuff was lost, Bird.
I'm glad you like it.
i like birds....they are chirpy.
Me too, Carmen.
eagles don't chirp...
No, Carmen, they don't. They're to big to chirp.
neither
do they cheep
being profit-driven
american capitalist eagles, they are too cheap to cheap or chirp
/t.
No, /t. Chirping is beneath the eagles.
they are bores...
No, they're not. And they are big birds, too!
big birds are dumb...eagles look dumb...i like robins...they are small and joyful...
Robins are nice too. I also like eagles
and
eagles
like lambs
/t.
You just don't like Dolly.
little lamb,
that's not true
i like little dolly7...
i like to pick on her -- i like to torment her -- i like to torture her
she's really a lot of fun
/t.
Poor Dolly

damnable wretches all the way around.
(carmen, darling, forgive my wrath, i am sure you meant no disrepsect. but do be careful!)
Mona, all has been taken care of.
Atta way Bird! You go, bird!
I too, hate when technology changes.
I'll have to check out your blog bird.
hmmm,
i wonder what
ever happened to
'fly the friendly skies'...
comments here are more like, 'die the fiendly skies'... cool!
/t.
It's not the flying as much as it is making it through all the airport and airline BS. And the security - you are now guilty until proven innocent.
/t., it all depends on what you post around here. Pick on eagles and you get in BIG trouble. with Bird.
Kid, you are so right.
good info,
little lamb

The terrorists are winning as much as I hate to say it. It's like we're running scared and they have done nothing since 9-11.

eagles are snub-nosed....they are snubs!!!
and they eat lambs, bird...
Carmem, you've got spunk.
LL, i hate eagles dressed up in striped tights ...
Where have you ever seen that, Carmen?
Eagles are majestic creatures. You wouldn't think they would need a tern to protect them. I guess one good tern deserves another. (bad pun intended)
Great photo. Poor lambiekins.
Cute pun, I like it. No, that's poor Dollykins. She must be rescued. You can't trust /t. to watch her.
in your pic... the eagle , wings outstretched and things over the big letters in three colors : america!!!
You got it, Carmen! :)
LL, the eaglet...above...see?/
Yes, Carmen, I see.
ja is lovely lamb and /t
Thank you, freya.
We used to watch wintering eagles along the Mississippi. Eagles pretty much stick to fish food-wise, but will eat carrion. We scared one off roadkill once.
i like freya...she is a sprach- fehler...
good show
on pbs tonight
about biological weapons testing on flocks of sheep -- poor little dollys...
/t.
now we are called "biological weapons"...how strange!!!
Kid,
So eagles will eat fish and roadkill.
Carmen,
Freya does seem nice. K9 liked her so she's got to be good.
/t.
How did it turn out? Poor sheep.
Carmen,
Sheep are not biological weapons.

(At least the mountain isn't shaded purple. That would be a bit much. What's that? Gotta go. Homeland Security is at the door ... apparently they want to "discuss" this comment ... )
Umm, no the picture is not to scale to my knowledge.
Umm, it could have been a lake. I didn't see any lake pictures so I picked the one you see.
Umm, no lakes are not less patriotic to my knowledge.
Oh what have I done?
LL, happily, lambs are only biological.
and i think lakes are 100%patriotic...
think of finland with its 10,000 lakes...
Whose side are the lakes on? Finland's or America's? I don't want a wishy-washy answer. Either the lakes are patriotic to America or they're not (in which case they are un-American and need to be drained).
little lamb,
how did it turn out?
anthrax: 1
dollys: 0
/t.
pueri, the drainage systems are already on...but don't take me seriously, i'm a lakist...
Carmen,
Finland is not in the United States.
Pug,
I'm sure lakes are patriotic, though I'm not sure. We can make use of our lakes.
/t.
How did what turn out? What are you talking about
Anthrax 1?
Dolly 0?
Carmen,
STOP draining the lakes!
little lamb,
you asked me
how it turned out...
anthrax 1 dollys 0
(the sheep lost)
/t.
Oh that program. You let them kill the sheep!
Like lambs to the slaughter. Kebabs anyone?
I'm sure /t. will have some.
Carmen, the more I read your comments, the more I like you.
LL, have no fear...no immediate danger...there are 10,000, LL..
pueri, don't!!
pug,
she belongs here, too.
Carmen,
10,000 what Carmen?
....10,000 lapes to go, LL,...
or
maybe
10,000 cryptic messages from carmen ;)
/t.
...directly from the crypt!!!
It took me a while to get around to it, but I just posted my answer to your last question here.
Carmen,
lapes?
/t.
Perhaps
Dan,
okie dokie.
yes, LL , laps + lakes = lapes...
SLAKES
SLACKS
whatever....
LL

or whatever
/t.
